Execute Your Vision In Half The Time
Jan 06, 2020How to create a plan that will get you to your Vision and Goals in half the time
Creating your Vision and purpose is the first part of having a successful business. The second part is having a sustainable action plan that lays everything out to reaching your bullseye and making your dream a reality.
In our December Newsletter and Blog, we discussed steps to create or expand your business vision. We asked you to make your list of tangible goals you want to accomplish, your vision of where you want your business to go.
Let’s look at how to set up your plan for the next year.
YOUR PLAN IS YOUR ROAD MAP TO REACHING YOUR DREAM. IT IS YOUR GUIDE, YOUR GSP THAT GUIDES YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
Your plan needs to be well thought out and organized. Let’s start out with what you need to do in the first year of your plan to move it forward and increase your income and business growth.
Your Dream/Vision is a mental picture of the future state of where you want your business to be at a certain point in time, and your plan takes you step by step on what you need to do to get there.
It provides you clarity in the direction you are going and keeps you focused on doing the things that will bring you closer to your vision and see the true growth potential of your business.
It keeps you connected to your bullseye and prevents you from veering off your path so you can make your dream a reality.
3 STEPS TO GET YOU STARTED ON CREATING YOUR PLAN RIGHT NOW
Step 1 – Year 1 – Top Goals to Move Your Business Forward
The first part of making your plan is to go back to the list you created in your vision then select the 4-6 top level goals you need to do in year one to move everything forward. I know it may seem that everything is a priority, however there are certain things that need to take place first for the next tasks to even happen. For example, to write a book you need to have content to start a book. If you have no content writing a book is very difficult. Collecting content over the next year as you work will help you get ready to write your book.
Step 2 – Planning Out Each Goal
The next step is to take each goal/task and break it down into smaller tasks, and the actions steps you will need to take to make each goal achievable.
For example: Let’s say your goal is to generate $5,000 monthly. First you need to look at how much you are making right now, $2,000 monthly. Therefore, your goal is to make an additional $3,000 monthly.
Next, look at how many clients you already have and what are they purchased. Then look at how many more clients you need to bring in the additional $3,000 to reach your goal.
Now that you know how many new clients you need, what do you need to do to get them, networking, speaking, following up with past contacts, etc. The question to ask yourself is, what action brought most of your clients into your company previously. First thing is to do more of that, then what else can you do. If you are a speaker/trainer what events can you speak at that attracts your target market. Depending on what your product or service, can you expand or add to your marketing efforts.
Step 3 - Tracking your Progress
It is important to set up regular check-ins on your action items, to help you take stock of where you are. It shows you if the work you’re doing every day is moving your plan forward to reach your bullseye.
Are you staying on schedule, and on budget? Taking a regular look at your progress also helps you pinpoint any issues or challenges, revaluate, review assumptions and adjust where necessary. It allows you to identify problems sooner and adjust as needed, before it becomes a bigger and harder to handle.
With so many moving parts in a business we need to divide things up into smaller manageable pieces to truly see success.
We have taken a look at the:
- Top 3 steps to creating your plan.
- Your top 4-6 goals, what needs to be done to move your goals/vision forward
- Action steps to complete each goal and who will be carrying them out
Your plan should also encompass your vision, purpose, description of your target market, communication, mission statement, business culture, team strategy, leadership style and direction, and marketing strategies.
