Don’t Wait: Small Changes, Big Results
Aug 01, 2024The Power of Timely Updates: Home and Business Insights
Recently, my husband and I made significant changes to our home. Some of these updates were long overdue, and it struck me how much we had delayed them despite years of talking about making these changes. For instance, we had a fireplace on the main floor that was too close to the thermostat, something we realized 18 years ago. We recently replaced it with beautiful shelves that my husband built. As we admired the new look, we wondered why we hadn't done it sooner. It was a simple change that didn't require much effort, yet it brought so much beauty and joy to our home. This made us think about other projects we had postponed, like updating the basement.
Life happens and plans get pushed to the side!
In the past 4 months, we worked away to complete several home improvements to enjoy the summer, and this made me reflect on how we tend to tackle changes in both our personal and professional lives.
Often, we see areas that need improvement in our business but continue working in our business instead of on our business, missing opportunities for growth and enhancement.
Small, timely changes can have a big impact on increased revenue, improved perspective, and add value to products or services.
Drawing from this experience, my husband and I have committed to regularly assessing our home every six months to identify necessary updates, whether it's the roof or expanding a space. We will prioritize projects that will bring us the most joy in the short term and work towards each project gradually vs all in one shot.
This approach is equally important in business. I encourage my clients to review their progress every 90 days, identifying what has been accomplished, what needs to be done, and what can be eliminated. This helps them make necessary improvements without waiting until the last minute, avoiding chaos and stress.
Many people postpone personal and professional development, like taking a desired course, because they can't find the time. However, if something is truly important, we must make time for it. While it can be challenging, if you want something badly enough, you will find a way to fit it into your life.
Sometimes, life gets busy, and you may not be able to tackle a task immediately. It's important to acknowledge this and plan accordingly. Consider scheduling a week or a month to focus on it when you have more availability.
In summary, stop pushing things off because you don't want to deal with them now. Addressing tasks and projects promptly can save you time, stress, and financial strain in the long run.
